The Objective Statement or Summary Statement: If you have been out of work for a while, and you have a very impressive background, then you can go with an Objective Statement like this one from a military journalist: “To obtain a job where my extensive operational experience will provide a high level of input to ensure a successful mission.”
But if you have not been out of work for a while, and you are still a bit inexperienced, then you need to be a little more specific. Here’s an example from an online journalist with less than six months experience: “To obtain a job that will provide me with the chance to prove my abilities as well as develop skills in areas I am lacking.”
Finally, if you have been out of work for some time and you have a lot of experience, then consider something like this: “To prove myself as a valuable member of the team.” That’s not too specific…. But it is still pretty specific.

Education: The key here is to make your skills immediately clear through the education portion of your resume. This is the area where you can put your strongest skills into action.
If you have a master’s degree, then list it before your bachelor’s… Unless you have extensive experience in addition to your master’s, in which case list your experience first.
If you are an online journalist and you have a certificate from a journalism school, include it as well. Just be sure that the people reading the resume understand that it is an online program and not a full-fledged degree.
Work Experience: If you are a journalist, then you probably do not have an extensive work history (but a Journalist’s work history, if it is extensive, tends to be concentrated in a few spots). So take full advantage of that fact and tailor this section of your resume to make the most of the skills and experience you do have.
For example, if you worked in a newsroom for two years and you were in charge of assigning stories to writers, then list that. If you were in charge of updating social media, then list that. If you had special access to information or documents and had to go through red tape to get them, then list that.
Another example: if you worked as a journalist overseas for three years and wrote a lot of articles about the local culture and economy, including those details—but be sure to make it clear what they mean.
