Did you know that in order for companies to feel confident that they’re hiring the right candidate, they will generally look at each candidate’s resume before the interview? Some companies even require candidates to submit all of their resumes in advance.

Quality Assurance Resume Writing Guide:

  1. Resume Objective
The first thing that employers will see on your resume is your resume objective. This is the overall point that you’re trying to make to employers, but it can also be a statement. It’s important to have something catchy and unique here.
  2. Education/Work Experience
Next, list any educational institutions that you’ve attended and list the names of your instructors and courses you’ve taken if applicable. List work experience under this section. Make sure to list any job titles and company names.
  3. Additional Skills
This is where you can list relevant skills that you have that are outside of your work experience. It could be anything, like computer programs, knowledge of a foreign language or even your hobby! If you don’t have any ‘outside’ qualifications, this is also a good place to put awards or accolades that you’ve received for your work.
  4. Work-related Skills
This section is where you can list the skills that are directly related to your work experience. If you’ve been in Quality Assurance for a number of years, this is where you will want to start including your skills. This section will allow employers to see what you know about software, testing, and code analyzers.
  5. Working with Others
In this section, list any teamwork abilities that you have as well as problem-solving and goal-setting skills.

  • Coordinates with manufacturing and shipping operations to ensure all components are received in proper condition and in a timely manner
  • Conducts tests on manufacturing or shipping operations quality controls
  • Performs other duties as assigned

  1. A positive attitude and great work ethic.
  2. Good communication skills, especially the ability to communicate effectively with other teams and management.
  3. Analytical thinking skills (sometimes referred to as problem solving skills, critical thinking skills or decision making skills).
  4. Problem solving/analysis/discussion skills (to be able to solve problems without necessarily being told how).
  5. The ability to write well under pressure (spelling, grammar etc.).
  6. Detail-oriented; have good organizational skills.
  7. Ability to work independently and as a team player.
  8. Have the ability to learn new technologies and coding languages quickly.

  10. Good knowledge of the software development life cycle, SDLC or waterfall methodology and other relevant methodologies like CMM, CMMI etc.

Tips to write a Quality Assurance Resume Summary:

The two most important parts of a resume? The summary and the experience section. These are the first things that your key employer will see and if you can’t impress them there, it’s unlikely that they’ll want to see what else you have to offer. Make sure your Quality Assurance

Resume Summary is short and sweet – the maximum length should be just two or three short lines about your most attractive qualities. Try to be as concise as possible, and don’t go over the top with fluff. The profession of software Quality Assurance, although growing in popularity and recognition, can sometimes be viewed as a technical discipline rather than a job skilled only as a Software Quality Assurance Professional. Many people with this experience may have no idea of how to write a Quality Assurance Resume. Fortunately, there are many online examples and templates that can be used as a guide.

Make the summary count:
This is the first thing that your employer will see. A full-length resume may leave a misty impression, but a concise summary will get your profile noticed at once. If you imagine starting to type out your resume with four lines of summary about yourself, that’s already way too much – meaning, there’s no way you should be submitting your full-length resume at this stage anyway.

How to write a Quality Assurance Resume with No experience:

  • Have your personal information at the top, name and contact info.
  • For Education, include the name of the college/university, degree/Major, GPA, and any honors or leadership positions
  • Next go to work experience, rather than a long list of jobs in reverse chronological order, instead focus on your achievements with each job. That way when you go to interviews you can talk about what you’ve accomplished while you’ve been working there. Include internships too!
  • For Volunteer and extracurricular activities, include any leadership positions or achievements. Mention skills you have acquired and how they relate to Quality Assurance.
  • Last are add-on skills, any that pertain to Quality Assurance.
6.Make your resume easy to read, clear and clean with a simple design that looks good.
7.Actively look for jobs that are in your field of interest and add them to your resume.
  • When you apply for a job and they ask you to write a resume, don’t send the same resume or one that was copied from another site. You may have seen the same resumes at different sites, but these haven’t been personalized with keywords and phrases found in your own search results. Every unique resume receives more attention.

How to write a Quality Assurance Cover Letter:

  1. Address the letter to a specific person. This is very important. Do not use “To whom it may concern” or “Dear Sir/Madam”. Instead, research if there is a specific person you should address your cover letter to, and make sure you use their full name. This will make them take notice of your application and ensure that it is handled by someone in charge.
  2. Make sure to include a date in your cover letter (especially if it’s a long one). If you have no previous professional experience, it is a good idea to put a date at the end of the letter when you started looking for work. This way, your potential employer knows when to expect you in the office. It also shows that you are proactive and self-driven.
  3. Explain why you want to work for this company. In your cover letter, explain what makes this company special and unique. Consider writing a story about why you want to work for this particular company. Even if your potential employer doesn’t share the same opinion, they will be impressed by your motivation.
  4. Exhibit enthusiasm and passion. You don’t need to be over-the-top, but show genuine excitement and interest in what the company does (if you are not sure yet, you can use examples of products/services of the company that interest you).

Key Takeaways:

  • If you do not have a bachelor’s degree, you should highlight the courses and experiences that are comparable to your degree.
  • Focus on your areas of expertise. Make sure to include key words such as “quality assurance,” “methods,” “processes” and “mechanics.”
  • Include your key responsibilities in each of the job positions on your resume.
