Resumes and cover letters can make a huge difference in getting noticed at companies you’re interested in, but there’s no one-size-fits-all when it comes to resumes and cover letters.
Scrum Master Resume Writing Guide:
- Keep your paper size standard when printing out your letter, but make sure that it’s formatted so that it would fit on a US Letter sized piece of paper.
- The font you should use is Times New Roman. The font size should be 11 or 12 and the margins should be 1″ on all sides. Use bullets as well as numbers. Align the center of bullet points with the center of the letters in your name and list all your skills including any certifications first.
- The very top of your resume should contain the position you are applying to and then the date.
- Then follow that section with your full name, address, and phone number. Include any personal interests or hobbies you have that relate to the job you are applying for and then list out your skills including any certifications, languages spoken, etc. List these in order of importance regarding your career goals- so put what you’re most proud of at the top.
- If you do not have any certifications, but do have any international experience, put it last as it may not be important to the company. But if you did have a cert to show for your time abroad, include that.
- The next section should be group by skills but in this case organized alphabetically. Any other personal information that you would like to convey, such as training or volunteer work, should be included in another section at the end of your resume.
- If your resume is longer than one page, it should not contain the same information on a second page. It should just contain a short paragraph summarizing your entire resume.
- The objective statement should be up high on the resume so that the recruiter can easily find it. Then list “Experience” and “References” or whatever else you may put at the bottom of your resume.
- The cover letter is a very important part of the job application process. It’s not just for an application for a different job like a resume but can also be used to sell yourself to a hiring manager for a new position within their company or even as an interview follow-up letter if you get an interview.

- The cover letter should be written in a professional way and should state that you have been actively in the field of project management and agile development for the past 5 years.
- It should further include that your help is needed to ensure that the project is successfully completed within a set time frame and that you can bring passion to ensure this particular project can be successfully completed.
